Hi Jemma

We've used these
http://www.apexrentals.co.nz/
and these
http://www.budget.co.nz/deals/default.aspx
and these
www.avis.com

also do a search for companies like rent a wreck, rent a dent etc if you want cheap cheap.

Which area are you needing one in? Some do special rates for one way hire, usually back up the south or north island, others don't let you take the car on the interislander ferry etc.

Hi i used apex and rent a dent( not like it sounds the car was one of the best i had and they were really helpful they let me hire it in auckland and return it to hamilton with no charge.also let me extend the rental over the phone. ) I f you use the Aucland branch they even come and pick you up at the britomart to sign up for the car. It was a nice english couple that owned it too. Cheers Cardy

Hubby and I used James Blonde for our car hire. They picked us up/dropped us off in Henderson, 25 minutes from their office, gave us lots of advice, and had very reasonable prices. Our ugly little car took us all the way around NI on two tanks of gas. Our only problems were staying left and constantly trying to indicate with the wiper blades! (Americans :roll )

We used A2Brentals and used there bronze grade car, we had to hire a huge people carrier due to all our luggage. It was an older vehical but clean functional and very good value. Sorry cant give you the cost per day as they kept dropping it every time we extended. Our land lord recommended them to us and they were way cheeper than other quotes. They picked us up from the airport.
