Hi Folks,
Just a quick one, but those who know me from a few months back will know that we came to NZ on a visitor visa, found jobs, got PR and then returned to the UK to plan our next move. I returned and my Dad was not well, then hubby decided he wanted to stay in UK for now. I was unhappy, but we had always agreed that if we weren't both happy to emigrate then we would maintain the status quo (remain in UK).
Hubby has since thought long and hard and we're coming back for good! I suspected he'd change his mind but he's one of those people that think quietly and then suddenly announce a decision which he'll never go back on. House is going up for sale, shippers coming to do quotes, we've told the friends/family that matter and we're now selling stuff/throwing junk away.
Excited or what! Nervous too! My daughters over the moon, 11yr old son a bit cagey about leaving his mates though.
For the first time on this forum i've ventured on to the 'how do i move' threads to get some shipping information - and its been brilliant so thanks to all who have posted there!
New plymouth here i come again.....

Hannah that is so lovely to read - I know you weren't too happy about things when you came back - but it sounds as if things are going to work out now. ;)

Hope your house doesn't take too long to sell - we've said begger it, we're going now anyway in November - can't sit here forever waiting for a buyer.

Keep in touch and we'll try and meet over there next year sometime!

Loads of love and luck

I hope the kids are excited, just remind James of the $2 shop. :laugh

Looks like we'll be 'just down the road' in Wanganui, so a lot closer to NP than Welly.

Go Hannah!

Hannah that is fantsatic news. Yoiu have always been my role model as to what CAN be achieved here in NZ if you come out on Vis Visa.

Although we don't have PR (YET!) we have done the whole selling, packing shipping this recenlty so if I can repay my debt of help and advice be sure to PM me for anything - you helped us so much!

We are off to NP next week - any thing we seek out and do for two days?

Thanks and well done!

Thanks everyone!!!!

YES!!! I am SO excited. Even James (my son, who is 11) is with me as i write this and says "Wicked" about going back to New Zealand. He's had a think about it over the last few days and he's been thinking about skiiing on mount taranaki, snowboarding, kayaking, surfing, swimming, and climbing!!!! He can't wait, and I'm over the moon as a result.

Yes, my heart never left NZ as you probably worked out from my posts when I came back, and we were just all sitting round a BBQ tonight thinking about our forthcoming return trip and said we all KNEW it was the right thing to do. Spoke to our friends and fellow forumites Paul and Linda (also in New Plymouth) tonight and it's great to think we have some ready made mates to pop in and have (Tetley) tea with when we come back.

Marcia & Nanny Ogg - I can't wait to meet you guys in person, just seems like days ago that I was giving you some words of advice and now you are so much forward on the journey!!!

As for where to visit in New Plymouth - definitely a walk from the visitor centre, accessed from Egmont village (North Egmont visitor centre) - lots of Mt Taranaki walks. Also, an absolute definite, go to Pukekura park in New Plymouth, accessed from Liardet St close to the council offices. The most beautiful park in the world!!!! Puke Ariki museum in town centre, the beach, a trip on Chaddy's charter boats (down near the port - he's a local celebrity in NP and the boat trip out to the sugar loaf islands to see the seals is great fun and only about $30 adults/$10 children). Cup of tea in the Tea Emporium in Devon Street West (near the clock tower) with the lovely home made cakes is also a must!

Thanks everyone, I can't wait to get back!

Babette, you'll always be welcome over for a cuppa in my house in New Plymouth (when we find ahouse of course!). Hopefully it will be yorkshire tea - planning to bring a suitcase of the stuff over!
Fingers crossed we may have a house sale - friend at work came to see it yesterday and looking positive!
