We have had a look online and found some with emirates that lok good but had planned a day in town (Brum) next wednesday. Anyone got any recomendations?

We plan on having a minimum 2 nights stop over somewere, open to offers, as long as it's cheap. Then the rest of the flight.

Any info will be gratefully received.

Cheers

I've noticed Air Tahiti Nui Often offers cheap or *free* stopovers. Tahiti is sooo pricey, though, and a stopover isn't enough time to stay in Moorea, the nicer island, IMO! I think they might offer other stopovers, too.

We have booked Manchester to Auckland with a Singapore stopover (booked direct with Singapore Airlines). As I am a migrant I got an extra 10kg luggage allowance. OH as he is already NZ Citizen only got the 20kg and baby (under 2) got 10kg, which I think it pretty good. Maybe they are not the cheapest to fly with, but it beats going from Heathrow in my opinion and Singapore is a fantastic place to stay, we are doing 2 nights - 3 days stopover on our way out. By the way we fly 31 December 2006.
cheers

We booked with Singapore Alines and are spending 4 nights there. Our tickets including taxes were 836 pounds each. We could have got them cheaper but we wanted the option of changing our flights up to 12 months ifrom departure instead of the normal 6 months. This gives us the option of extending our visitor visas should our PR be delayed.

Nick.

We are flying with emirates again on 29th oct from birmingham, we on emigrate tickets which allow you extra 20kg per person, so that mean 40kg per person altogether. We have flew with emirates in april 2006 for interviews/hoilday in new zealand from birmingham with a stop at dubai for few hours cos we got two very young children (baby was 9 weeks old) we decide to go straight there, so flight was 30hours. We were very impressed with emirates and they were really fab with kids especially they treat kids as their top piority, so we did jump all the queues on the way and way back!!! :nice1 and get into plane first in all airports apart from not UK's...
Happy to give more info about our flight/emirates if you want...send me PM

Would rave about Singapore Airlines anytime. They were fab with the kids and the stopover in Singapore was great.

I've heard Emirates is good too. And friends who flew on Malaysian thought they were really good.

we did singapore airlines too :nice1 booked it direct on their website (register on their Krisflyer club first for more flexibility re dates etc) it was £483 each one way with 20kilos economy class, then emailed them saying we were migrants and they upped it to 25k. The price starts going up each week for the last 4 weeks before the flight, so book at least 4 weeks in front.

we went manc-singapore and stopped for 15hrs in the transit hotel (top floor in the terminal, check out changi airport website) it is only about £12 per person per 6hr block, so we booked 2 blocks. The rooftop pool and gym/sauna is also free with hthe booking.

all food & drink is free on the plane and the in-flight movie/tv prog/cd/games console things are great- bet you dont beat par -1 on mini golf :laugh

I've just booked with Air New Zealand for £667 flexible return (which may not be used!), which looked a good price to me. You can arrange stop overs in LA, or HK or if you use one of their 'round the world' fares, Fiji or some of the other islands. Not used Air NZ before, but our flight is direct to Welly and they were by far the cheapest for that route. Would recommend www.travelmood.com - helpful people and quite a good search engine on their website.

We came Air NZ twice straight thru via LA (yuk!). My parents have done 2 trips via Emirates (both by business class though - Air NZ have most legroom in economy of any airline) - their first trip was via Dubai, Singapore, Melbourne, Auckland - took ages to get here but they thoroughly enjoyed it, with a week's stopoff on the way back in Dubai. Second trip they hated the journey - just Dubai - Melbourne - Auckland - Welly - they aren't doing that route again, but they like doing lots of smaller flights & everyone's different - we just wanted to get here as quickly as possible with no stops.

Best deal we found in Feb/March was online with Singapore Airlines, spent a wonderful 5 days there as well. Excellent inflight service from food to personal TV screen options. With our 2 girls we've been so spoiled by their service that we don't fly with anyone else anymore (for longhaul flights).

Small bit of advice. We came out Emirates and would recomend, but a friend said they did also and stopped of in Dubai for the day, but they stopped of on a Friday and they said everything was closed, so check it is not a holiday etc. on your stopover

We've booked with Air Singapore - 2 adults 3 kids £2582, flying on November 13th, it was £200 more expensive PER PERSON to fly either one day before or one day after - perhaps people don't like flying on the 13th?????? Well it's saved us £1000 - so cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have booked a family room in the transit hotel in singpore, for a block of 10 hours at a cost of about £65, families note that the hotel in T2 does not have family rooms you have to book at the hotel in T1 - buts thats the one with the swimming pool :D All this has been done online haven't even paid a deposit or given creditcard details for the transit hotel!

Our internal flight from AKL to Palmy has cost $442 aprox £158 for 5 of us.

Been sorting out the motel to stay in at Palmy with the much appreciated help of DIny (and offers of help from Helen - thanks guys :nice1 )

Where are you wanteing to book the motel - there is a good one near the airport in AKL - can't remember the name Diny may come along soon and tell you - but add a destination area so people can narrow it down a bit! :D

Dan try sending a pm to Babette - they went somewhere in that direction I'm sure, she doesn't post too often on the forum now - but I'm sure she'll pick up her pm's and let you know if she can - or even try searching some of her old threads that may help! :)

here found a link to her thread which gives some good tips and links
