Well I finally plucked up the courage to take my NZ licence .

Got to the local VTNZ station at 10.30 ,Queued for a few minutes, the nice lady said I needed to fill out form and I needed my passport and something with my address on.So drove home ,filled out form got what I needed ,drove back ,queued again .
She took my photo and I did the eye test ,read 3 lines of letters and said which side the light was flashing .$84 please and when would I like to do the theory test [it was now 11.15] ,as soon as possible please ,she said come back at 12.

Came back at 12 the place was jam packed ,I just wanted it over and done with .The lady caught my eye and took me into another office and gave me the scratch card sheets with 35 questions ,I needed to get no more than 3 wrong and I had 30 minutes.

I got the first few correct ,this isn't bad at all I thought then I got one wrong about how fast you can travel with a trailer [like I will ever drive a trailer !!].
So now my hands were shaking ,what if I fail ? what will I do ?
A few deep breaths and I carried on ,got all the rest correct yippppeee :raebanana

Went back to the main office ,still huge queues but who cares I had passed.
So I get a piece of paper ,temporary licence ,my official one should arrive in the next 21 days.

Phew I should sleep tonight as I didn't last night :laugh

Congrats - just hope your photo is better than mine. (Why oh why did she not tell me my top was the same colour as their background? I look like a disembodied head!)

Well done!! We've got to do ours soon. What is the procedure? Do you have to just do a theory test? Or do you have a proper driving test?
As it seems that noone drives very well over here!! ;-)

Mine too. :laugh Although my second license came today with the motorbike addition, why didn't I take a paper bag?

Just out of interest Marie, did you get your address put on yours?

I thought I had ...but I told the lady I was moving in Dec ,so I guess she didn't put it on my licence .

I must leave it in my car as I dont always take my purse ,it says there is a $55 fine if you can't show it wen asked !

I was really scared when we moved here as I had heard of this and my licence was in a purse ,in a bag ,in a box ......in the container :uhoh

It was the first thing I looked for :exit
