What a fab site - have been looking for a while & gained so much info. Thanks to you all :clap

Will keep this short, maybe!

I'm a Kiwi & have lived in the UK since 2000 but now my long-suffering (Scottish) OH has finally said "Enuff of your moaning, woman, let's go!". So all going well, we'll be in NZ August 07.

Think it may take that long to get all his paperwork done. He's a plumber, so at least he's on the skills shortage list :nice1

I'll leave it there - just wanted to say Hi & Thanks :)

Hi there keeweescot & OH,

Welcome to the forum. It really is a great source of information.

I'm from Leeds originally but currently live in Dunfermline. We're hoping to get out to NZ early in 2007 but obviously that depends on the NZ Immigration Services and selling house etc.

Whereabouts in NZ are you from originally?

Welcome to the mad world of emigration - you'll have happiness, sadness, tears, stress, laughter the whole range of emotions - and we're all here to help, share and support each other through this difficult time - I've made some fantastic life long (I hope!) friends through this forum and certainly couldn't be at the point we are now at, without their support!

So jump right in and get posting - we are all really nosy and like loads of information about you, and piccies, boy, do we love piccies!!!!! :p

Hello there, we came over from Glasgow too.

Where are you going to be living?, tell your OH that Auckland is way nicer! Only thing I miss are the pubs!

There seems to be a lot of Scots over here, bumped into a guy from Shawlands the other day!

Thanks for all your messages, guys - I feel so welcome! :nice1

To answer your questions:

jubjub: we're heading for Hamilton or possibly Te Awamutu, not too far from you so maybe we can catch up - some friendly Scottish faces for the OH!

pinkpiggy: grew up in Christchurch, moved to Auckland (mainly North Shore), then to Hamilton & the Waikato, back to Auckland & then over to Ireland & the UK - so you could call me a bit of a nomad!

marcia: I think I've been through most of the emotions you mention - & that's just this past week! so please be there for me when I get worse the closer we get to Moving Time!!

Am i missing something here? Why dont you go through on the Partner Visa by all accounts much quicker and simpler? BTW isnt it a wee world, i am from Glasgow and living here with my Kiwi wife! We are emigrating to NZ next year and hope to be there for Sep/Oct 07

Hi Jamie

Yes, you're probably right - will most likely go through the Partner Visa. I read on a post (somewhere but can't remember where!), somebody went through somehow using both ways (partner & job skills). We're going down to London next month for the expo & thought we'd find out the pros & cons of both ways.

Small world indeed! where abouts is your wife from? Can't figure out how to post a quote but if you have a look at my last post you'll see some of the places I've lived in NZ.

Where are you guys headed to?

My wife is from Wellington keeweescot and thats where we are headed next year. We are lucky enough to be given a bit of section to build on by my wifes parents, so i even know my address lol ! If you need info on the Partner route talk to Diny, very informative and helpful.

When i was there in Welly in the New Year we were on a bus going into town for some celebrating and these guys got on, all dressed in black and shouting about the devil etc, gods knows what they were but up pops a voice from the back of the bus to shut them up, aye you guessed it, a Glasgow boy from Easterhouse :laugh

Hi Debs

How long were you away from Auckland/NZ for? What do you think are the biggest changes? I keep telling OH how much better everything is - but I'm sure lots has changed! & I'm probably just homesick!! :laugh

We were back in NZ in April but only for 3 weeks so you don't get much of an idea. What do you miss from UK?

Thanks a mill
