Hi everybody,

I am an undergraduate hospitality student who is looking for opportunity to work and live in NZ next year around October. From the immigration website, I found out that only hospitality job like kitchen chef and hospitality supervisor are in the shortage list. So it seems to be impossible for me to apply by EOI. So, I am wondering whether I should join the WHS first and hope that my employer will sponsor for my working permit. Or, perhaps I should try my luck by applying for job directly with the hospitality organization itself. However, I think the chances for second option is quite slim as I will need to hold a valid working visa/ permit first before I apply for the position.
What should I do? Can anyone advise me on this matter? I would be glad if there is someone who is in hospitality line can help me on this matter, as I am eager to work and live in a beautiful and blessed country like NZ. I want to work my way from the very bottom line to supervisory and managerial level. Finally, I hope my dream will come true.

Many thanks

I'm afraid I'm not really in a position to offer any advice to you but just thought I'd say Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Have you looked into a working holiday visa? That would allow you to get more experience in the country, which would help your EOI later.

yeah~ I am planning to arrive nz by working holiday visa. but it only allows me to stay at nz up to 6 months (for malaysian). I wonder will i be lucky enough to get an employer who will appraciate me... anyway, i will give a try.. so you arrived at nz by WHS too?
