I have mentioned on a couple of other threads that we have decided to go to NZ despite not selling our house! having an open to view day today (no takers so far and been open for 2 hours!!!)
Well we have now booked our flights, we leave on 13th November, 14 hour stopover in singapore, and then onto Auckland. Price was £2582 for 2 adults and 3 kids with Singapore Air, need to book beds at the transit hotel in singapore airport and a connecting flight from Auckland down to Palmy.
God, was my stomach churning around last night when we booked it, felt a bit sick all morning so far and have almost burst into tears telling my mum and dad we've booked it. Kev's mum will be away when we leave which I'm not sure what to think really, she is going away for a month so instead of us leaving her, she will be leaving us in way! May make it easier - one less - 'see ya later' to say near the day itself!
We're getting the shippers to come as soon as they can, just waiting for a requote this week.
So the countdown begins..............................
6 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :exit

Could feel your nerves when we chatted this morning. You'll be fine and there's a reception party waiting for you here in the Manawatu.

Marcia good for you!
Sure it will be the right decision, and I always say things happen for a reason and normally for the best too!!!
As you know we came out just over 5 weeks ago, thought we had a renter/buyer for the house, which fell through our first week of being here.Within a few days we had a 2nd buyer, which blow me Friday pulled out! but within a few hrs have a cash buyer! and we have said we want to complete within 5 weeks as she's nothing to sell,so fingers crossed this time.
You just have to go for it and take the plunge!
Keep us informed how things go,you'll have a very busy and emotional time ahead for awhile, but it is worth it!!!

Got your email just 5 mins ago Marcia. Well it just leaves those Dolans to follow and then the NW crew will be completed over here. Will check your dates against my rota, and we just may well come and give you a meeting committee. But in the meantime lass enjoy those last 6 weeks:nice1 and i'm sure as soon as your feet touch down here your dad will be signing the house over to the new buyers. It will probably need this to make things move for you guys.
Look forward to seeing you soon.

Marcia, don't worry too much about the house as things do work out, when we game out we were stuck in a chain with the house sale but decided we would take a chance, we had to wait in nz renting with 1 income still paying our uk mortgage for 4 months, we were so glad we didn't wait for the sale to go through before we left, just go for it.

Well done Marcia. :cheers
I know how you feel, our house was supposed to complete on the friday and we flew the weds after- trouble was it didnt complete (their solicitor went on hols and left it in their in-tray!!!) so stuck our heads in the sand a bit really, and we flew anyway. It actually completed 2 days after we got to NZ, but it was a worry.
Book online for the transit hotel- you dont pay a penny till you turn up. It was a shock when we walked up to the reception there and the guy said "Hello Mr Charlton" as i have never been to singapore but he was obviously expecting us. The rooftop pool and gym are free for hotel residents so TAKE YOUR COSSIES!!- we forgot. And some of the burgers in McDonalds there have fried rice patties top and bottom instead of bread roll - Nice!

Hi Marcia.
wow, exciting and scary at the same time. I've started looking at airlines and flights, and it makes it all really real! When we started this, our friends and family were all "next yr- thats ages away", - now its only four months to go, everyone is getting "but - thats really soon"! , which brings it home to me how soon it is. Although not as soon as 6 weeks! Actually, to be honest - I'm a bit jealous, I think i'd quite happily go in 6 weeks rather than four months :)
Anyway, have a fantastic six weeks, - I'm sure the house will be sorted by then and it will all go smoothly! Just think, by then it will by grey, miserable, rainy here (actually it sort of is today come to think of it) and you'll be leaving it all behind for the sunshine!

Hi Marcia, Kev
Well done you on taking the plunge. Sometimes you just have to go for it. The next 6 weeks will probably fly by and you'll be in Palmy before you know it.
Good luck with the move.
