Has anyone been able to get their medical records back from immigration? I would really like to have them for health insurance purposes.

Last week I called and was told "no problem just send in a request w/ all your personal details, purpose for getting them, etc". I called Friday and was told "this takes a few days to process - just call back next week. So far no indication that this is not possible. Today I called and the very unhelpful woman told me that it would be highly unusual for them to release them, and that it takes 20-30 working days to process the request!

This would have been good information to have when I called the first time.

has anyone else tried (successfully or unsuccessfully) to get a copy or the actual records?

Thanks!

If your stuff is held by the London office then it ought to be covered by the Data Protection Act and you have a right to access it although they may charge you a fee.

Look here (www.ico.gov.uk) for more info.

I would have imagined that health insurance company would know you were fit and healthy after being accepted by immigration anyway?? Would certainly go down that line if asked.

Thanks. I have actually told them that I have my returning resident's visa and that I passed the immigration medicals but they still want the actual records (as well as all my medical records from the States). I am actually looking at going down another route at this point and just having them underwrite it on the basis of my application -then I'm covered based on the truthfulness of my responses.

Still... it does seem like immigration should be able to get them back to people.
