hi Sophia,
Like I said in a previous post, I could lend you some baby stuff and a few toys, but we have actually just sold the little wooden cot we had , I hope you have managed to find a travel cot. There are a few toy libraries in Chch which is really handy for the first few weeks before you get your container. I can`t remember what we brought with us, we only had 120 kg with us (that s for 2 adults and 4 kids), towels, kitchen equipment, laptop, books crayons etc..a car seat, a little baby chair that you can clip onto the dining table (you can borrow it if you want), all the important letters and paperwork.
pm me if you need help when you arive. Where are you going to stay in Chch?

I have to admit that I didn't pack any toys other than the sleeping palls and collapsable scootter for my kids, (aged 4&2). My son had a birthday 4 weeks after we arrived and my daughter's birthday is in 2 weeks so we gave them both some $ from family as pressents and they brought a few things. I thought toys were realy good value at the Warehouse where we went. Also my kids rediscovered the full use of their imaginations and played with bits they found around the house. Their fav game was airports for the first few weeks.
I took them to local music play thing which runs 2x a week which helped.
Personally, I would pack enough nappies to get you started but they are bulky and you might as well get used to NZ ones sooner rather than later. I packed all the kids clothes on the basis that by the time our shippment arrived they wouldn't fit them anymore. Im glad I packed all the kiddy over the counter medician stuff as I wouldn't have liked to try and find one that agreed with my kids once they were poorly.
I wish I had brought my large strong IKEA bags with me, it would have made Pak & Save so much easier.
