New recreational park on Waimakariri River (Canterbury) - first phase opened.
I had a look round the other day and it's a great park - eventually the park will stretch 60km up river to Sheffield/Waddington gorge site :nice1

It looks great. Do you have to keep dogs on a lead there?

It has the usual pic of dog on leash, but this can mean "under effective control" if not within a wildlife reserve - i.e. under voice/leash/sign control at all times.
If in doubt it's worth ringing the relevant council - or risk a $300 fine. Hoping to go there next week and I'll be ringing first - will let you know.

Thanks. I guess it is something we'll have to get used to when we come, as here Buzby is often off the lead in our nearby woods.

Olivia - we went to the new park on Saturday and it was quite extensive - still being landscaped in places but the views and the river are fantastic - and dogs can be off lead as long as under good voice control. :nice1 That's great as Summer is great off lead and there's some lovely swimming holes (for dogs AND their owners ;)).
Perhaps we'll get to walk it together one day!

It sounds lovely. Would be great to meet you. Buzby is pretty good with voice control, although i do very occasionally have to revert to 'biscuit' control!
I'm soooo looking forward to getting out there so I can see for myself.
