well ........ where to begin ;)

Soooo much has happened so i'll just ramble , on & on & on ......

We arrived 6 weeks ago today , had 4 weeks off & just bummed about the South Island - did all the wonderful & usual touristy things - queenstown , 4X4 lord of rings safari , gondolas , fox & franz joseph glaciers & mount cook ( via helecopter no less !!) Had a wonderful time - spring was kind to us & we had pretty much constant sunshine .

Week 3 dawned & we decided it was time to think about re entering the real world . I sent CV's to 5 local practices ( dental nurse ) and was interviewed by 3 of them LOL - a bidding war for me followed & I eventually settled on $20.50 an hour :raebanana could have gone a bit higher i suspect but I bottled it ! Paul went for 2 job interviews (cabinetmaker ) and has accepted a job at a local furniture factory $18 an hour for the time being & a promise of promotion & pay rise in the new year .

Both jobs are pretty easy & very laid back compared to our UK jobs - every one seems really nice too . We have just both finished our 2nd week at work .

Now - house !! We looked & looked & looked a bit more , here there & everywhere & time & time again we returned to Rangiora about 30 mins north of Christchurch . We've been to so many open homes we were dizzy , but we found it :D :D It is in our opinion - a dream !!! for those who like a nosey heres how to look at it www.devlin.co.nz id#dre489 - the roof is not as bad as it looks - its actually a kind of fabricky stuff thats meant to look aged apparantly . Thankyou GBP££££ . Getting a mortgage was simple & easy - took letters & payslips to the bank & we had our yes in 10 minutes - in fact ASB have been exceptional & I cant reccommend them enough . We move in on the 8th December .

Our container was delivered today to our storage facility($40 a week) & our really big tent was confiscated by MAF- we get it back next week & it will cost us around $75 to $100 to be cleaned (we are paying MAF directly ) everything else was fine - all we have unpacked is this computer - boy we really really missed it !!

Paul is having moments of severe homesickness but on the whole is doing well - I think our own 4 walls will help a lot . Its not easy living with my mother - let alone the dreaded mother in law !!! at least now we know the end is in sight & home is waiting for us !!

Going to sign off - as Pauls hovering desparate to get on the comp too !!

love to all - keep those chins up ! you will get here soon .

Vicky and Paul - congratulations!!! Glad to see you are both well and arrived safely.

The house looks lovely, can see we will enjoy dropping in for a cuppa! LOL

Not a lot happening here with the house - very slow. Jan has broken her wrist, I had an absolutely horrible abscess to contend with this week http://bestsmileys.com/dental/1.gif and going back to work today thank goodness.

Missed you at the meet last weekend, and you certainly missed the mega chocolate ice creams yum :cheers

Now you back in the land of the living, keep us posted.

Hi,

You seem to be settling in nicely and the house looks fantastic. Your own pool as well - that's fantastic. I bet you can't wait for 8 December to come around. It's only about 9 weeks - and they'll fly by.

Thanks for keeping us updated and look forward to hearing more from you soon.

Nice house, and it'll be great living next to a reserve. Those hourly rates sound good too. Glad to hear you're enjoying it so far.

Lovely place :) Rangiora's grown on me since I discovered the sushi bar and the New World there is brilliant! Oh and the organic shop on the way out to Oxford (on the way home for me :D ). Hope you're really happy there.
