Well, today I have been around the house and made a list of all the things that need replacing to go, washing machine, dishwasher etc.

Now I need to make my list of all the consumables I want to bring with me. I could do with a bit of inspiration. :D So far I have on my list;

Max Factor makeup
Hair conditioner
Beef stroganoff packet mix!
Gravy
headache tablets
kid vitamins

I'm not bothered by walkers crisps or marmite as I don't like it and I did like the crisps in NZ. Is there anything I should add that is silly money over there? :roll Are you able to put aerosols in the container?

I know there are threads like this on here already but I want a list all to myself!! :p

We are flying at the end of December but our stuff is going to be shipped, hopefully, in November. So not long to get it all sorted!!! (I'm an obsessive planner! :o )

It's good to be organised! :)

I'm still undecided about shipping :uhoh

Nic, a good few gallons of cheap emulsion paint, gloss, in fact take as much paint as you possibly can because I believe it costs a fortune!!!

Also bring deodorants, as you have a very limited choice, and yes you can bring aerosols, ladies "items" are quite expensive, so you may want to bring a stock of them:nice1

Just been given all the colour charts from our decorator for Resene paint and I really don't think it's too bad price-wise - mind you, he gets it at cost, but I don't know if I'd bother filling up the container with it.

Nicola, I can't work out if you mean things to pack in your case that you need until your container arrives or things to pack in your container.

I'm not fussy - both!! :yes

Nic

If you have room in your container I'd just stuff in some of your favourite everyday things, not necessarily items that are just expensive or unobtainable here.

I'm glad I shipped a years worth of my fav skin cream, even though it was only 1.99 a bottle, I like it and it likes me, we're both happy.:laugh Same with deodorant, I can't get it here though so little sis will be shipping me some out when I run out.

If you or the kids have any allergies and use special stuff, bring shedloads of that too. Bring the headache pills too, but they are cheaper in the supermarket here than the chemist. Like Elaine says bring ladies thingy wees too.

You can put aerosols in the container, but not paint, although water based emulsion might be refused by your shippers. And remember that the container can get very hot, so things can melt. :o

HTH.

I read somewhere recently that most shipping companies won't let you put paint in the container. I've been wondering whether this is really true, as I would need to get rid of all the kids arty paint sets & glitter glues etc.

FOM

I brought all my craft paint. I didn't exactly point it out to the shippers but didn't hide it either, it was packed and it was fine. It was the water based stuff though in plastic tubes, not oils.

Make sure you put them in something so that if they leak, it's contained. :uhoh

You can ship paint BUT they don't advise you to because of the danger of it exploding. If this happens and all your stuff gets covered you will not be insured for the damage. The shipping companies I e-mailed advised if you were going to then make sure it is well sealed in plastic containers to minimise the risks. Some shippers won’t allow it in the container at all. If you want to ship paint then ask them if it is OK before you choose the company you use.

Thanks for that Nic. :nice1

Forget all the headache pills etc that you were going to pack. Just stuff your container with paint and sell it on to us lot please. :laugh
