Hi Gang,

I know it has been covered on here but just wondered if any of you have a good mobile contract that allows for calls and texts to the UK?

Thanks

Took out a contract with Vodaphone which gave 45 free minutes a month which seemed reasonable when we didn't have a land line.

Caution: Vodaphone charge from set days within the month that they don't actually tell you about. So, you're free minutes may not actually apply when you think they do. I'm currently in negotiation with them for paying for 30 minutes of calls

Note: I have now cancelled the International calls from the mobile.

Telecom are useless for texting to the UK.
They openly admit only about 1 in 10 texts get through.

If I'd have known - I would never have taken a plan out with them.

:no

Don't know but I don't know why people bother with txts. Considering they started out as an engineering tool, they certainly rake vast amounts of money in for the companies!!
Surely email would be a better option???

Use to think that way until I moved to the UK in '03. TXTing is like instant e-mail on your mobile. And it's cheaper than calling usually...

It never really caught on in North America (except via the Blackberry crowd) because calling WAS/IS cheaper than TXTing - i.e an additional cost.
