Well we are now back from our reccy trip after a fantastic 3 weeks in NZ.

What can I say....firstly thanks to the gang in Christchurch for a great night at the Twisted Hop. Sorry we did not get to speak to everyone, but we plan to see you all again. :D

Having spent time in Auckland and Christchurch we are now sure that Christchurch is the place for us.

Unfortunetely we did not get a job offer. Despite making contact with various companies and arranging meetings we found that companies will not take the risk unless you are on the ground so to say. Even if you are in a skill shortage area. :no

Looks like we will have to wait for our PR to come through, sell up and just get over there.

Can't wait :D

Hi there,

I think the PR thing makes all the difference, even if your not in the country. My OH has been offered job and all he's had is a telephone interview.

I think you do have to have a definate time frame for when you plan to arrive etc :nice1

That is the general view, PR then a firm arrival date before any jobs offers come along, unless you are in a mega shortage area.

When you get time (I know how precious it is!!) see if you can do a run down of your reccy trip, good places, bad places and just your general feelings about your trip.

It helps you to remember in those 'bleak' times ahead, (I keep going back and having a peek at ours!) and also gives other members an insight! :nice1

Glad you came to the chch meet, was good to meet so many new faces of people from the UK out here (or coming out here). Which areas of chch took your fancy or did you just like it all?
