There are two bottles of Moet in my fridge left over from OH's birthday. Can we put them in the boxes for the shippers to take or might they fizz all over the place? Are there customs limits to how much booze you can bring in?

We had a rather large drinks cupboards and it was all fine. Customs and the shipper could see it was domestic not a booze cruise type thing, with cases of wine and beer. If I remember rightly the shippers didn't list it separately, they just put contents of drinks cupboard or similar.
Included in that was a bottle of champers from my parents wedding (don't ask long story) in 1959 and that survived although I'm not planning on drinking it anytime soon.
There are customs limits http://www.customs.govt.nz/importers/Private+Importers/Customs+Charges.htm but they shouldn't apply to emmigration and didn't to us. Email them to set your mind at rest.

Our shipper were happy to pack closed bottles of alcohol only would not guarentee the wine would not go acid due to the travel condition. I got lots of replies from people on the forum happily drinking stuff they had brought with them so shipped ours. We also go them to ship our open bottles by gaffa taping he caps. (just couldn't manage to drink them all before the move).

Thanks goodness for that - we have a 3 liter bottles of gin and vodka which we've barely started - the wife got them in Germany Wouldn't fancy finishing those before we go. We've had them out at plenty of parties but I think people get intimidated by them so don't use them!
