Hi,
At some point in the future I'm going to be looking at getting work as an IT Project Manager. Does anyone have any information that may be useful for me? Has anyone emigrated and found this kind of work?
Also is there a chosen methodology that tends to be used? I am experienced/qualified in PRINCE2 but I reckon I could adjust quite easily. I've been in touch with a couple of recruitment agents in Auckland who have been quite positive but I'd be interested in any info/experience anyone has.
Cheers
Dave

With the quals you have, I really don't see a problem. Where I work, the PM's are largely made up of immigrants (SA & UK) :nice1
Good luck.

I'm a PM in Auckland. I have Prince2, but am also PMP since moving here. I have found the majority of companies here follow PMBOK terminology rather than Price. It took a few weeks to adjust, but really it is very similar.
I am currently working for a power company, but have also worked in the dairy industry and education. (Although the education role was very different to your usual PM work, and involved a lot of research.)
I'm enjoying it here - and contract rates are fantastic! (I didn't contract in the UK, so had no idea just how lucrative this was...)

Hi
I'm PMP certified and working as a Project Manager in Wellington. Overall impression is that employers LOVE the certification and that there are lots of PM jobs around. I'm currently the only PMP where I work but there is a local (as well as national) PMI chapter and the idea seems to be getting more popular. I've not worked in IT but see lots of job listing in the local papers. Good luck!

I am also PRINCE2 Practitioner, APM Qualified and working as PM in Welly.
There are a lot of PM jobs here but the agencies don't move fast !
Companies currently recruiting here for IT PM's include Alcatel, Telecom and Unisys.
Check out their websites or you can PM me for names/contacts.
cheers

Hi POG,
I'm a PM specialising in IT and infrastructure projects with 10 years experience working in London and two computing degrees. I'm arriving in Welly in around 4 weeks with a full working and residence visa with my kiwi wife and son.
I've just started putting the CV around since attending the NZ London Expo last Friday, but I'd be interested in any contacts you could provide into businesses like Alcatel/Unisys etc?
thanks in advance.
Rich
