A friend of mine is heading to New Plymouth and she has a daughter who is studying art and design at college in the UK. She wants to continue her education and study interior design in NZ. Anyone know of any art college’s? The only one they have found so far is in Auckland. I think for them Wellington would be preferable (or even closer to NP) :nice1

They do the qualification I was looking for at degree level. I think what she needs is an art college to get the qualification needed to get entry to Uni. Maybe she needs to study a more general art qualification first? :confused:

How old she? Most students go straight to Uni from school - even for art courses. There is no foundation art year as there is in the UK.
You could look at the local Polytechs (equivalent to sixth forms) for potential art courses if she needs to extend her portfolio.

Hi Kerry

Well she is 18 and in the second year of art college here in the UK. It is looking like she will be unable to finish her course and wouldn't then have enough points to go onto a course in uni over there. She needs to go to college to get those points. There is a college that does it in Auckland but her parents are heading to NP. I worry that a very quiet and shy girl maybe out of her depth living in Auckland alone. :(

christchurch institute of technology has a very well known and respected art school.
and there is also one in nelson that my friends brother went to i think? cant remember exactly the name sorry..
