Hi!
My mom is a nurse practitioner, here in America, and would like to escape to NZ with us. She has loads of experience, much more than just a regular RN. Does anyone know if nurses in NZ do more than just regular RN stuff?
Thanks!

Hi Tigerlily,
I am currently a nurse in the Uk and am going to NZ in dec to start work as a nurse in NZ in Feb.
I think on the whole ( This info is from my employers and other nurses in NZ but they are British) the role can be pretty different from that of the Uk - not sure about America as I have never been there to work.
I did manage to get a job offer and support for my residency application plus a helpful motel and car package for 2 weeks from my employers from the UK Via the internet.
I just emailed some district health boards and one was particularly interested and offered me a job.
This seems to be okay for them - they don't seem to require you to go to NZ first.
The big thing was getting registered with the nursing council in NZ it is a lenghty process because you need to supply transcripts of all courses that pertain to your quals to make sure your qulas are more or less valid or the same as thiers.
Someone wil most likely post from America and give you the info more relvant to your mum but if you need anymore help feel free to PM me
Love
