Good day to all!

I'm planning to migrate to NZ together with my family maybe next year because im still fixing all about my career here. Anyway, the excitement is there but I have this apprehension of discrimination. I'm a southeast asian and most of my friends in the US, Australia and some parts of Europe, the discrimination of the people there on the immigrants is very high. I came across a part of an article on the internet saying that most of the southeast asians are being discriminated when they migrate to first world countries. I know that it's a reality happening around the globe that's why migrating to NZ is a serious thing because you have to consider a lot of factors.

Anyway, anybody here who can tell about their experiences of being discriminated or have seen anybody who was discriminated and what can you say about this?

I'm not in NZ, but from my friends there I gather that the biggest resentment towards immigrents is at the ones who move over and stuck in "clicks" with their own culture, as opposed to adopting the Kiwi culture. My advise is be proud of who you are, but if you're moving to NZ, become a Kiwi! :nice1
From one hopeful to another,
Ana

Personally i found evidence of overt racism among some (a minority) individuals (aimed at Maori, Asians, Americans, 'Poms' etc.) but then I witness that here in the UK too - even though we are apparently meant to be the most 'racially tolerant' country in the UK. What was different to the UK was that racist comments were not preceded by the phrase "I'm not racist but....." which is typical of UK (which I often take to mean "I am racist and....")!!!!! I was disappointed at first, almost expecting NZ to be different - not to be 'tolerant' but to be 'accepting' but then NZ is full of human beings too, and human beings will discriminate and be judgemental. Have to say I found NZ no more racist than UK, and on the whole people leave others to get on with their life, practice their own culture, religion etc. in peace. That's my personal opinion, but i'm not black, I'm white and therefore my experience is just that. Where I witnessed racism it was mainly aimed at Maori which was sad. But as i've said already, it was the minority of individuals in my experience.
