Hi all
Havn't been around for a while. I have seen this somewher else on the forum a while ago, can't remember....
Ok, let's say I want to send my stuff over but want to get away from paying duties. I know it's easy for PR people to get away from duties but what about us poor work permit guy's who will only get their work permits once we arrive and get that offer. When do we have to produce that work permit, before, during the shipping or only once it lands. Now bear in mind if it is only when it lands at the port must I physically go there myself?

By the way will be hopefully be coming over about March/April, via South Africa.

My sister in law is now coming with us as well (has job offer) so I might get away it and use her name for the shipping.

Hi Dina, Kim39 ect ect ect
Kim39 - any news on the trucking front? and by the way which jobs pay better, trying for that magic 45000 K.

Miggie I remember there was a thread on this a while back, think its something to do with paying a bond thats refunded when PR granted. try doing a forum search.

Just checked on the documentation given to us and it states that as long as your work visa is for more than 12 months you can bring your goods in duty free

Yes, I called Customs and they confirmed that if you have a visa of 12 months or more there is no duty - we are only on Working Hols visas and that is still ok apparently.
