We just find out today that flight from dubai to christchurch that we got no skycot for our baby due to miscommunication between travel agents and emirates!   Too late to sort it out as all skycot are full booked. Manage to get one from birmingham to dubai.
So when you book skycot for your baby, check direct to airline after booked to make sure that you got skycot ok, don't expect travel agents ensure you got it! Last flight, we had meals mix-up as got husband and both kids with food allergies, so this why i rang the airline this time and it was by chance that i find out about the skycot, my blood is boiling now.....
anyway packers is coming tomorrow to packing all our stuff....oooohhh :raebanana

If you have a front pack, take that with you, at least you can have your hands free..

Good luck with the packing, and I dont envy you the 2nd leg of your flight...

What age range does a skycot cover? my son is 18 months. Is he too old for one?

Best of luck with the packing nippa & pippa.

Hi olivia

I understand that they are for babies under 12 months of age
might be best to check with the airline

If you're 18 month is on the small side they will consider giving you a sky cot.

We found out on the second leg of our journey, with Air NZ, that we could have easily had a sky cot for our 13 month old as he's on the tiny side. No one can quite believe he's just started afternoon kindy, he's half the size again of some of the kids there :D and he's 2 1/2 now !

I don't think i'll be able to have one for Isaac then. I took him to be weighed last week and he's a kg over the average for his age and he's taller than his two-year-old friends. Oh well, i'm sure we'll manage somehow.

I think its a 12kg weight limit, some reach this by 1, some dont reach it till over 2!

TBH if its any other airline than AIr NZ the cots are soo small, you would not want an active baby in them when awake anyway, our fella took a nose dive out at 6 months old!

Isaac is already 12.4 KG so i guess we'll have to take it turns to have him on our laps as we're not paying for an extra seat for him. Oh i am so looking forward to the flight (not!)

hi all. Can someone tell me whether 2 year olds need their own seat on a flight of this length? Our little girl is teeny (only about 10kg) for her age but definitely won't sleep on our laps as she is quite independent! Should we book a separate seat for her? And do they provide pillows? Also, in terms of food for little ones of this age, do they cater for children? And any tips on making the horrendously long flight easier with her would be most welcome! Finally, we cant work out whether to break up the journey with an overnight stop or to just bite the bullet and get it all out of the way. Just concerned that by stopping overnight she will switch to one time zone and then have to switch again when we arrive?
