Hi there, we are Mandie and Tony and we are hoping to make the move to NZ mid 2007 or at least thats the plan. I am probably an unusual member here as I am actually a Kiwi that left 22 years ago - I know, completely bonkers! Anyway, we have reached the decision, finally, that our 2 kids will be better off in NZ. One of ours has ASD and is finding it really hard and it breaks our hearst to see his struggle. So we are off to the land of the long white cloud as soon as we can. I am not sure how hard it will be for Tony to get over there. Me and the boys have NZ passports but Tony is a pom so he still has to apply to be allowed in and we have had mixed messages as to how hard it will be to get in. Nevertheless, I feel like a pom myself after all these years and I have some questions I need help with, especially on schools. We plan to settle in the Auckland area so maybe once we get there we may be able to meet up for a few wines!! Looking forward to meeting you all!!

Hi Mandie and Tony...Welcome to the forum. I am also a New Zealander and my husband is from Texas, U.S.A. We are living in Texas at present and will be returning to New Zealand to live permanently next year (mid year). We will be applying for PR for my husband under the Partnership Category.
I believe from July next year it will be somewhat easier for New Zealanders to return to NZ permanently with their partners and family as we will no longer be included in the Family quota system presently in force.
