We are considerng Whakatane as a place to live and I am interested in hearing anyone's comments on the area...

Specifically:

-Anyone commuting to Rotorua? Comments?

-Pre & Primary Schools?

-Does it get very busy/congested in the Summer?

-Anthing else?

Welcome to the forum! Not sure if this will be much help - but my next door neighbours are Whakatane born and bred and still have family living there, next opportunity I get I will ask them for more details and get back to you.

Thanks lollypop... very kind of you to offer. We actually just got back from NZ and did spend a few days in Whakatane to get the feel of the place...

Seems like a nice area, but the hour commute to Rotorua, while beautiful, is a bit far... We did find a few people who do it though...

No worries -it's always best to get first hand experience of a place. So you'll be looking at settling nearer to Rotorua then?
