I'll let you know what the Plaza Parkroyal is like, am staying 1 night there next month :nice1
Take a look at Tripadvisor, found it to be a very useful website when looking at booking hotels. They also have a Singapore forum where you can ask lots of questions :D

We stayed at the Furama Riverfront when we stayed in Singapore in February. We had adjoining rooms for the kids. There was a really good pool there - great to cool down because it gets REALLY hot there. tbh, there are so many hotels in Singapore and as far as I can see, the majority are really good - you can just take your pick depending on where you want to stay.
We stayed 6 days and had a really nice holiday - I'm feeling very nostalgic about it already - we were so excited about coming to NZ and it was lovely to relax after all the stress of the previous few weeks.

Lived in Singapore for ten years.. both of the hotels above are good..depends what you want.
The shangra-la in Sentosa is a great family hotel..it gets you out of the city, is on the beach and is a real family resort..is about 10-15 mins into the city by taxi
The shangral-la in town has a min golf, a great pool and lovly gardens...but.....its very pricy
You could post a few of your options and I will tell you whats good and bad about them

We stayed at the Shangi-La in town on our way to NZ. It definitely looked very pricey but because we booked our hotel through the Singapore Airlines stopover package, we ended up getting a really good deal :nice1 I'd recommend them though. we had a fab time there :)

yes you are right...forgot to say that you can get great deals on the hotels via airlines or Travel agents...also bear in mind that Singapore has bad hazy...ie pollution from the forest fires in Indonisian, at the moment.... so the prices may drop...not sure when you are going!!!!!

We stayed at the Orchard Hotel (part of the Millennium/Copthorne chain). It was very nice and very child friendly. It is right in the city if thats what you want. Has a very nice pool also.

When we were only in S'pore for a night or two we stayed at The Traders (part of Shangri-La group) and Swissotel, which are both fairly centrally located hotels. Very good standard in both.
However on our way over to NZ in March we stayed for 6 days at the Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa resort hotel and I can't recommend it highly enough :yes Our 7 & 3 yr old loved the pool complex and the kids club (free), we had a garden room on the ground floor. We booked direct on the hotels website where they offer various great package deals. Ours included breakfast & dinner buffet (very high standard & variation), late check-out till 6pm and unlimted laundry!!
We also did the night-safari, a wonderful experience for all. Thinking about S'pore makes me long for the warmer weather :yes
