While talking to NZIS at the London Expo on Friday they were advising people not to get their qualifications pre-assessed. They said if you need them or think you need them assessing then it's best to just get the qualification fully assessed.

I must admit we got OH's pre-assessed but purely to see whether it would give us enough points. Once we knew we would have enough points we sent it off to be fully assessed. We also paid to have it fast tracked and received it within 3-4 weeks. We were certainly impressed by the speed. I know it costs more more but in the grand scheme of things it's really not much to pay.

I'd agree with that and I'd also get the NZQA part done first before doing the EOI with NZIS. The reason is that our NZQA process took 12 weeks and usually when you EOI is accepted, you've got to respond with all documents in 3 months (I believe).

Best therefore to have the NZQA stuff first then you can just send all of the EOI stuff at once.

Once ITA has been received you have 4 months to submit it.

OH also decided to have his qualifications pre assessed so that we could determine points before EOI submission. Good thing we did. His level 3 was assessed at a level 4 so we are really pleased. It did not take long at all. We submitted on line on 16th October and got the assessment on the 18th! For us it was well worth it. We can now go ahead with the next stage thank goodness. :exit

Hubby will be finishing up a degree in March, and we're going to submit a pre-assessment and an assessment at the same time; the full assessment is for later, ITA, jobs, ect, the pre-assessment takes a week or so to come back and we wanted to lodge our EOI by the end of March, and we need to ensure our level. We've tried to gauge what level his degree is worth in NZ, with calls to NZQA, NZIS, Auckland Universary, our States-side NZ conulates....since we've opted for the pre-assessment and added costs, you can tell how well that went. :roll :) . Just wanted to illistrate a reason for the pre-assessment!

What is the recomendation for me -with NZ spouse- as i need to get qualifications recognised to teach, but it's unrelated to my emmigration process? Quicker to do in NZ, or better to trust it to courier from the UK?
