Got a call from the agents on Weds, phoned them Thurs and they delivered at 4.30 Thurs pm. They delivered that late cause we didnt need them to unpack anything thing.
I posted a question on the old forum because I wasnt sure whether to pack myself or get professionals to do it. I emailled Crown, who didnt even bother to email me back, PSS would only send info to me, which at the time made no sence at all, but Allied Pickfords sent someone out. He had a look at all the stuff I wanted to send, then sent me a quote for 8 cubic metres :eek I have been dealing with measuring freight in my last job and I was pretty sure I didnt have that much. They wanted £1600 to pack, ship, deliver and unpack. I wasnt sending furniture at such so I knew I didnt need them to unpack. I decided to pack myself, and got in contact with a shipping company I knew through work. (Imperial Freight). They brought me round a big roll of bubble wrap and some boxes to get me started, plus some tape. I managed to get some more boxes from my granddad, and Parhams of Portsmouth kindly donated some more boxes plus two blankets for my TV. I then roped in my Mum and Dad and we spent two days packing boxes. Items sent were - Clothes, kids toys, TV's, various electrical equip, DVD's and videos, CD's, some camping equip (camp beds, sleeping bags, blow up mattresses etc), some xmas decs - 29 various boxes and packages in total. I used the bubble wrap to protect the electrical stuff, and used the clothes as padding for the boxes. A grand total of 3.4 cubic metres. Total price £950 incl insurance. Only downside, I could only insure for total loss cause I packed it myself. Total shipping time was about 6 weeks, including the week to clear MAF and Customs. (One point to note - I cleared an airfreight box myself through MAF the other week and was charged $28 for docs, this time the agent did it all for me and charged $50, is this cause there were more boxes? :? )
Well, its all here, its all in one piece, and it all works. :cheers And how nice it is to have familiar stuff around you.
