Hi Coast to Coast is one that springs to mind. Search on Amazon for this or look on ebay for second hand copy. Not sure if this may be relevamt for your location though
Bit of a touristy type production but some lovely views across north and south islands

We've just finished watching the 'Billy Connolly's World Tour of New Zealand'. On top of being very entertaining I think it gives you a much better view of things from a regular person's view (if you can call him regular). As opposed to the tourist sell. You can find it on Amazon quite easily.

Phone Austravel (or check out their internet) - they do a free DVD that is one of the best I've seen for scenery & info about different places in NZ.

apply for the Kia Ora programme - we got a dvd from them at the Manchester Expo it has a fantastic promo of the Nth & south island.

oh and then theres Billy's DVD - thats what got us started on this journey!
