Having had a look through the NZ Immigration site my head is starting to spin
I've had to get a new passport and am due to travel on 18 Nov (yes next month :exit ). I need to get my visa transferred and am not sure on what form to fill in if any.
There's an application for returning resident's visa, do I have to fill this in or is there another way ?
In the passport the RRV says 'please apply for transfer of this visa when the passport expires. But not sure where to go for that info, seem to be going around in circles on the website
Any help will be greatly appreciated :D

Page 14 of the brochure on RRV's (a pdf file which you can download from the bottom of this page (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/alreadyinnz/residents/returningresidents/howdoiapply/StepsToApply/default.htm)) says you don't need to fill out the application to get your RRV transrferred to a new passport. Just pay a fee which I believe is $100 from within NZ. Of course, it doesn't tell you exactly what you should do to actually gert it transferred (show up at their office with your eftpos card?)

Hi
We recently went back to the uk for a holiday and before we went had to renew our RRV's as the original 2 year ones had expired, to do this we filed out the form and went to the immigration office, on the 7th floor of the council offices at Wakefield St Wellington, they were very helpfull probably a good idea to go in and see them as its often easier than phoning.
Not sure if there's a form just to transfer to new passports or any cost.
Good luck
Brian and Jan :)

Thanks for the info. My husband is taking them into them today to see what they say.
Not best pleased at the $100 just to transfer, a right rip off.
Just be warned if you've got a passport that's about to expire in the next couple of years to get it done in the UK. Here in NZ it's $290 for a new one plus $100 to get the RRV's put back in

Good news! I think it's actually only $40 from within NZ to transfer. I was thinking of the fee for the RRV itself, but on page seven of the Guide to Fees - Form 1028 (available from here (http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/general/formsandfees/formsandguides/other.htm)) it says it's only $40 within NZ to transfer a visa or permit from an older passport to a new one.

That's what OH thought but when we checked the fees it was coming up at the 100 mark.
Fingers crossed it is $40, I'll find out later if my OH has managed to take it to the immigration today :D

NZIS in London contacted me before putting the blue sticker in my passport saying that as it had just over a year to go, would I like to get a new passport first. Jolly decent of them!!

Definitely decent of them Gil. At the time mine had just about 2 years to run but it's only now when I need to travel that it's caused trouble as I only had 5 months left on it  Definitely worth getting it done in the UK and getting back the max 10 years so you don't have to worry about it.
We've got all 3 of the kids to do next year, at nearly $200 each it isn't going to be cheap :wah And they only get it for 5 years.
OH put the application in the drop box at immigration so I don't know if they'll change the fee or not.

A kind lady at Immigration rang today to double check if I was travelling out of the country, if I didn't I wouldn't have needed to transfer the visa.
She said it will only be $40 not the $100, great of them to ring and tell me :D

Glad it's taken care of and for $40. Thanks for posting the final word on the price!
