Not a happy bunny today ,got a letter today ,with a $60 fine :(
The ticket was issued at 8.34am last tuesday ,I was dropping Ellen off at the School I work at ,normally we are in the car park, but my little one was sick so I had to take the day off .
So be warned ,20 seconds on a broken yellow line can cost you 60 bucks . :wah

And watch out for the chalk.
The traffic wardens chalk your tyre, so they know what time you parked in a parking spot. If the chalk is still there, you get a ticket.
I got one a few weeks back, because I didn't know about the chalk, but mine was only $12.
$60 is not good :(

Just let him gloat Marie, he will get one too eventually and probably expect sympathy!
I hate tickets, I got one for *ahem* speeding, I had no idea that the cameras take photos both ways, so was about to challenge my ticket cos I am a reasonably good girl with such things, and was not driving past the speed camera at the time they stated, although I realised I was driving towards it... but at least i was not the first one in the family to get one...

Sorry to hear about your ticket Marie :uhoh.
I managed to get myself a fairly hefty speeding ticket (118 km/h, I forget the amount) during our recce trip to NZ last year !
Great place for it too, just over a fairly steep hill, I'm sure it's rich pickings for them posting out there. He longingly eyeballed a couple of other speeders that passed by while he was issuing my ticket !
Imaging the good mans' expression when I told him our address... in the Netherlands ! He had me write it out myself :laugh !

I've seen them doing the chalk thing in New World car parks here in welly, except that it's a towaway and $180 release fee, not a fine. :(

Only ticket I've ever had has been in Monopoly! But it seems you have to be extra vigilant in NZ - guess we'll just have to be careful.
Have a special smiley Marie :laugh

I've seen a motorist returning to her car and wiping the chalk off !
I've done that....or moved it to another spot so the chalk is on the bottom of the wheel!
:laugh
Only had 1 speeding ticket here....well no - actually 2 - one with a gun and one where I had the lovely blue lights pulling me over.

Dave got a fine yesterday for not wearing his seat belt $150 !!!!
He prefers the fines to points on his licence [as he did like to collect them in the UK quite often :exit ]

Tut Tut, right little family of law breakers aren't we :laugh. Seriously, thanks for the warning, guess it pays to be vigilant at all times about these things, maybe one day, Dave will learn to drive the NZ way.
Got to ask, what is this chalk on the wheel business??

Dave, you naughty boy...
Stevie the chalk is what the traffic wardens do to remind them to come back and give you a ticket! So if you have got a chalk mark, you are near to your parking limit (I think thats what it is anyway!)

Davey boy, CLICK IT or TICKET!!!!!
That chalk thingy happened to me up in the Bay the other week. Apparently they mark the tyre and should they return before you, bang you get the ticket, and then they rub it off. I got out thankfully before they returned:p

I don't know about the rest of the country but here in Wellington it seems like national sport, had a few parking fines  never been towed thankfully but know a few people who have.
Best advice is obey all parking signs and tow away warnings.
Don't you just hate those vans on the shoulder!!
