wahoo!!!!
I've just counted out 920 5c coins out of my "coin jar".
All going to the bank today because the last day for using the old coins is 31st October.
(Don't forget guys!!)
Now..........what to do with it.
Spend it?
Invest it?
Save it?
What a dilemma!
:D

The hell with it,blow the lot.Treat yourself to a few bottles of wine.Last week I weighed in all the beer cans that my visitors had left me with(honest) plus a few bits and bats and got $126.I took my wife out for lunch, bought some tomato plants, filled the ute up with diesel and spent the balance on beer and wine and it sure felt good.

I've been meaning to do that, out of interest did you bag it up, or just take your jar in?
Cheers
Tia
PS Spend it on a bottle of Tia Maria!

I'm sure ASB are extending the final date for depositing old coins to Christmas. Don't rely on this information though, only try it if you don't manage the end of this month.
I will check on Monday and let you know.

So does that mean the lowest coin in NZ now is the 10 cent coin - will they be rounding stuff in the supermarkets to the nearest 10C?
Just emptied our change jar this week, bagged up what we could, the rest we are trying to spend everywhere - don't think the waitress was impressed with my £3 tip in 5p's, 2p's and 1p's last night!!!!!!!! :laugh

I do not understand why NZ does not use any currency less than 10 c and they round everything? in Eu we used to have 1 c coin. Here they round to the 10th c!! So eveytime I go shopping I lose some cents ( only once I got a few)

Send them to me per post and I will pay you for POSTAGE :laugh

I can confirm that ASB and all major banks will accept old silver coins until at least 31 December 2006.

If you pay by Eftpos you won't have this problem. They still take the exact amount.
