Well it seems like the right thing to do to say hello to you all.

I'm Ross, and along with my partner Mary and 2 year old Millie, hope to be moving to nz in early-ish 2007 from our current home in Brighton. I have been skulking around the forums for a while and, as the time comes closer and my confusion increases, I thought it about time to tap into the wealth of knowledge available.

I am a project manager and Mary is a homeopath. We are probably looking at living on the North Shore, or perhaps further north, somewhere a little bit rural but with enough catchment or close enough to central Auckland for Mary to begin practicing and me to commute.

Well, here's hoping anyway. We are probably a couple of weeks away from submitting our ITA after being accepted with 130 points. Lets hope the application doesn't let us down in any way - as it gets closer my worries are increasing too!

Well, enough rambling - hello to you all and here's looking forward to getting to know you all better in the coming months.

Ross

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, its nice to be part of the community.

We are still waiting - 4 weeks now - for our medical forms to be returned to us from the doctors - they forgot to send off for one of my blood tests  This is the last bit of info we need. Then it will be the worrying wait for the approval in principal I guess. I just hope they judge that my work experience is relevant for the skilled migrant category through which we have applied.

I'm going to try and not get too far ahead of myself until we get approved, although because we just want to get out there as soon as possible this is difficult. I went to the expo a couple of weeks ago in London and it got me even more desperate to get moving.

So...thanks folks and I'm sure I'll be more and more active on here as the weeks go by.

Yes, thanks Babette, and I believe Moorf, who got me access to the forums after a couple of months in internet purgatory.

I have not long returned from the Post Office - our ITA has now been submitted - YAY!

Our wait begins.

I hope for a decision in principle before christmas!

Keep your fingers crossed for us folks.

Have a good day

Ross

Hi Ross and Mary,

A bit late, but welcome to this great forum, you're sure to find all the information and support you need here !

Good luck on the the ITA wait, hopefully it will work out that quickly for you guys. Although short, such a timescale need not be impossible, however (cautious Annie that I am ;)), experience does show that for some this 'race' is more about endurance rather than speed (never mind, I was never the hasty one anyway :laugh !).

We'll assume your application will the one to beat the speed record, shall we ??

Thanks Silverwing. I have just re-read the info on the London branch website and it doesn't make pleasant reading...

"Once the pre-populated application form is returned to the London branch it should be allocated to a visa officer within four months. For the week ending 20th October we are allocating files lodged up to and including 23rd August 2006.

Following allocation your visa officer will then take, on average, between one and three months to make a final decision on your application."

...So at the current rate we are looking at minimum of three months until we hear, more likely 4 or 5.

my guess is you probably wont now get an officer allocated till after christmas and new year. but once you do it really depends on how straightforward your case is. if its easy it can be done in a couple of weeks.
