We are going to be in NZ but probably not yet in a rental at Christmas. I think we’re both quite looking forward to spending Christmas Day with just the two of us – no family etc – just able to totally do our own thing.
But I was wondering if anyone have any good ideas for things we could do on Christmas Day – maybe recommendations for a nice restaurant or hotel for Christmas lunch? I’m guessing lots of places will probably be closed, but I don’t fancy trying to make Christmas lunch for us in a serviced apartment or whatever!
We’ll probably be in Wellington although we are thinking about doing a bit of travelling around so all suggestions welcome.

Friends in Welly often rave about Logan Brown and went there for dinner last year for Christmas. May be worth trying?

Sounds fab. last year Ashhurst Domain was packed with families having a Christmas party - if you don't make it to the beach maybe it would be a good idea to keep that location in mind.
Christmas in NZ is wierd - feels very strange - your head says it's Christmas - your eyes tell you it's a summer day - very odd.
I would say we'd join you but we'll roasting chestnuts on an open fire in good ol' Blighty ..... can't wait !!!!

Noooooooooo don't bother with the Wellesley cruise. Food's ermmm rubbish according to friends who have been. All a bit touristy too.
How about a beach barbie and a swim or if you have big bucks and want to go the whole foodie experience as Kerry say's, try Logan Brown's. :D
I don't know if Boulcott Street Bistro will be open but they are another brill restaurant too.
