Hi all, what a whirlwind weekend! Doing the insurance inventory for shipping :uhoh time consuming, BORING and not finished yet.
Dog was re-homed yesterday but it still feels like it does when we get back from hols and she's not been picked up from kennels...
Dinner out with some close friends last night :cheers then visited our old church where we used to live in Cardiff this morning. It was a bit reminiscent of our wedding, constantly smiling and hugging people!

Took Steve and Will to the rugby with some mates, waiting for a call to pick them up, uh-oh, Cardiff Blues lost.
Sorted out what of Steve's clothing to donate to charity (most of it :D) and bought some lovely new clothes for me!

Need a weekend to recover now....
Gil
Oh, and all the usual washing, cooking etc

Wow busy you!

I hope Macy settles in well in the new home, it must feel very strange for you all too though. Will you get updates etc?

When you're doing the inventory, take pics of stuff if you can, you never know when they'll come in handy. ;)

Look forward to seeing Steve arrive at Auckland airport in a black bin bag then. :laugh

Hope the rest of the time goes quickly and you have a peaceful, problem free departure.

Big Hugs

Exciting times eh. The whirlwind will continue until you get on the plane. Then you have about 26 hours to rest and it'll all start again once you arrive.

Go with the flow and enjoy (otherwise you'll end up a fruit loop).

All the best.

Gil ,

Best wishes for the next few weeks ,some wonderful moments and some terrible moments too saying goodbye to friends and family.

Just before we left ,some friends organised a meal for us all ,we kind of took over a restaurent ,sang karioke and speeches from everyone ,lots of laughter and tears.

They said they would make this a regular yearly thing of getting together ,so last night they had another meal and we sent a speech to be read out .[my brother said he heckled :laugh ]

So you get lots of we'll keep in touch ,We will come out and visit ,and we thought yeah yeah .....but its true they keep booking flights .....we have visitors planned for upto xmas 07 .

Big cyber hugs all round ,

Gil - know what you mean - feel really tired now almost at exhaustion saturation point, but still dragging myself round - the list of stuff to do before the packers come tomorrow doesn't seem to have got any smaller - but then again its taken ages just to dismantle and clean the dyson - why hasn't anyone said before how many 'bits' there are to clean in dyson??????

Good luck soon be there, and I'm definately at the fruit loop stage!!! :D

Gil and Steve - all the best to you both, you have to keep us posted from both ends.

We got it all to come, so reading your experiences and those of others can only help - gulp!

All the best

Steve and Jan
Suppose Steve is elated after the 'ammers won today?

Sorry Marcia, It was one of thie things I thought about posting but haven't got around to it yet. I took my Dyson apart and then decided that patience was to short and my Dyson to old.

It's all part of the great emmigration ploy; by the time you get on that plane you will be so gratefull for 26 hr with nothing to do you won't notice how long the journey is. But it is all worth it in the end.

OH Yes .........cleaning all the bits of the Dyson !!! I remember that well .

We dismantled it and scrubbed it till it shone ,but the shippers didn't highlight on the list for MAF to check ,so we used it immediately OOPS :laugh .

I never got on with my Dyson(s) (I guess we just weren't suited) so I'm pleased to hear I've avoided so much hassle with taking him apart!
We've put our car on ebay now and watching with interest! Progressing nicely;)
Short week this week, as we are off to Essex for a big farewell bash with Steve's side of the family on Thursday. And it's half-term here so we're doing all the usual hairdressers, new shoes etc stuff for Steve. Sorry, I meant the kids. After I cleaned Steve's wardrobe out yesterday, he's decided he needs some new clothes. Should've done it years ago!! :D
So, lunch guest today, send niece back home from sleepover here last night, business colleague staying tonight, Lauren's away in Bath (good, spare bed for business colleague!), working away tomorrow, hairdresser Weds, tea at my best friedn's house after that then Essex......

I may not be posting much this week!

Good luck to everyone else who's going through this, chin up and look towards NZ. Must say, I am actually enjoying it, hectic though it is, but boy, am I looking forward to that plane ride!

Blimey Gil, you must be frazzled, and i've just noticed that you were up and posting on here at 6.30 this morning - are you a machine?
I am meant to be filling in my shipping inventory too but have been putting it off all day and it must be time for lunch now.

Good Luck with the move.

Hi Olivia,

Not a machine yet, and I have noticed that getting up so early means it's already wine o'clock :D

We have now finished the shipping inventory (about 2 minutes ago!) and have been checking with Letton Percival how much detail they need: a lot. Everything we were tempted to generalise, they want a breakdown of. So that's what we've done....Is there a "knackered" emoticon? :laugh Mind you, with four kids, two of us and a home office, we have amassed a lot of things, and this is AFTER the mega clear-outs!!

Good luck Olivia!

You sound mad busy, yet very organised with it. Eventhough it's a BIG job sifting through all your belongings and clothes, it actually felt quite liberated to not be carting too much stuff to the other side of the world - the old 'I'll fit into those trousers again next year' clothes finally made it to a new home ;)

Counting down to seeing you 6 now :raebanana :raebanana

I agree Babette, I like the liberated feeling of sorting out, and I admit to being extremely ruthless!
Had a lovely farewell dinner at the best friend's house last night (even tho she's coming to our leaving party!), but it still hasn't truly hit me that we're going to be 12,000 miles apart. Perhaps it never will, with email and skype etc!

See you in 18 days!
