Hi there one and all,
Names Mike and wife Barbi and we are hoping to retire to NZ under the family reunification scheme (our two sons and their families are already residents).
We are just starting the process and are just looking at everything that has to be done and are feeling a little shell shocked. The medical scares us too..........we (or at least me) are old crocks and I've not the health I used to have.
Will keep you posted!!!
Mike

Hi Justin & Lorri,
They are in Tauranga. One son has been there 3 years, has a wife and son and is a teacher; the other son has just arrived last week with his wife and they are job hunting.
We have a way to go yet; then we have to sell the house etc. etc.
Regards
Mike

Yes, we are in the UK, in West Sussex not very far from Gatwick Airport.
We now have kids in this country, USA, NZ and South Africa; kinda makes it interesting deciding where to live !!!

Just a heads up (this is from memory), depending on what type of visa you're applying for, you need the same amount of kids or less living outside NZ to get accepted. So if you have 2 in NZ and 3 elsewhere, it may not work. But I'm not sure if it applies to grandkids or whatever. Just a heads up!

thats only the case if there are kids (adult or otherwise) still in the uk.
if there are none in the uk then the "centre of gravity" test which looks at how many are in NZ and how many outside doesn't apply

Oh well, great! Good luck with the apps. Don't sweat the medical.

We have this one sorted (or, at least, think we do). My wife is the main applicant and the gravity of her family IS in NZ.
