...can these be purchased in the UK? Something I saw on Tri Girls blog got me thinking. Get em over here so I can doll the number out before I go and be ready to rumble as soon as we touch down (In three weeks - woo hoo).

Thanks

Dan

The only mobile provider that has Sim cards is Vodafone.

If you go the the Vodafone NZ website you should be able to buy a new sim pack online and have it sent to you. They cost about $35 and that includes some airtime (about 10 bucks worth I think).

From what I can see from the online shop it appears it can only be dispatched to an address in NZ. However, you can set up a PO BOX from the UK and have it delivered there waiting for you when you arrive. You are able to choose your telephone number when you make the purchase.

I just tried to order a sim card and they will only deliver to an address in NZ and that can not be a PO box. :wah

"We can only deliver to street addresses so please don't give us a post box as a delivery address"

I'm pretty sure you can buy them at Auckland airport (I hope so as thats what we're planning)

OK so you don't get to choose your number but other than that?

Maybe I should set up a service sending out sim cards to people?

Seriously though, I'm sure other people have had them sent to them - maybe via a third party company.

i remember reading on here about a company that would send them to you but can't find it now.

I'll have another look

Telecom also do them. I guess you could ask some lovely person already in NZ to get one for you ....

No, Telecom mobile phones don't use Sim cards.

They are also notoriously bad at international texting. About 9 times out of 10 the text won't reach the recipient, despite the cost being deducted from the sender.

I wouldn't touch Telecom mobile with a bargepole - Vodafone all the way...

We have a spare NZ sim on Prepay if anyone wants to buy it! GBP10.00 and its yours.

Its a 128k Sim2 with the 3G logo on it. It has NZ$2.48 on it which is valid until april 2007 when you have to have to credited more onto it to keep the number.

Will happily post it to you in the UK free.

Its a good number if you like the number 2!!
