We submitted our residency application on October 20 and can see the current status on the NZIS website. Does anyone know what this means:

"When your health certificate status has expired, Immigration New Zealand will request another health certificate from you."

I thought that health certificates couldn't be more than three months old when they were submitted, but that the length of time needed to adjudicate the application (we're going through London as we're from the US) wasn't a factor.

If that were the case, anyone going through London would need multiple health exams!!

Please help!

I sent my ITA back in November 2005 and had a decision successful May 2006. We didn't have to do more than one medical and I'm sure you won't have to either. :)

It's more for people who need a valid medical certificate in place when getting work visas. You only need to submit one medical when applying for PR.

For example, I applied for my first work visa - no medical required as job was only 9 months duration. Ditto second job as six months. Third job was 12 months. I had still not had a medical at this stage...
My fourth job, I once again applied for a 12 month work permit - but this time I was rejected by NZIS on my initial application as I needed a medical. Apparantly as I had been in the country for more than 2 years I now needed to submit a medical cert.
Medical certificate then lasted for 2 years, so if I had applied for other jobs within that period I would not have needed another medical...

Clear as mud eh!
