I've just been looking at the Transit hotel at Changi airport as we're going to have a 6/7 hour break there on our way to Chch. We are definitely going to book a block and the price seems really reasonable. But it's started me thinking about the journey and i'm starting to feel a bit panicky.

I've looked up some other threads on here but just wanted to know if anyone has flown recently with Singaporeair with a stroller. Did they let you have it right up to the plane's door and also were you given it back in Singapore? I don't think i could cope without it for 6 hours even with a stay in the transit hotel.

Sorry, another question, when we flew before we gave Isaac Medised (an infant antihistamine medicine) which made him nice and sleepy. But you still can't take liquids through customs so can we buy it or anything similar in the Duty Free Boots?

Thanks for any help,

Olivia

Hi Olivia

So much to think about and plan isn't there :roll When we've had a short stopover in Singapore we've always had our buggy handed to us no problem, after having taken it with us all the way to the plane in Manchester. Unfortunately I don't know if there are any new rules / regulations re buggies or indeed Medised (we used that too - you can't buy it here by the way, maybe take some extra?) Try some of the more recent arrivals like Miggy, who I know flew with SIA too.

The Transit hotel is great by the way - if you can, book the one in Terminal 1 where there is a swimming pool too (you get there by a 'monorail' thingy, no need to clear customs or anything.)

Best of luck with your preparations.

Hi Olivia - we flew Singapore in Feb - we had our buggy right up till we got on the plane in Manchester. We stayed a few nights in Singapore, so not sure what the situ is re the transit hotel but I'm sure you'll get your buggy. Almost certain you get can Medised in Duty Free Boots (we did the same thing with our lo!)

Good luck

on the heathrow airport website (www.heathrowairport.com) there are lists of all the shops and their phone numbers so you could ring boots and ask? just make sure you get the right one as there is almost certainly one before security too.

Thanks all,

Just went to have a look at the Heathrow site you suggested Mandy and i found this:

New rules for taking liquids through airport security
From 6 November, the following rules will be implemented and apply to all liquids you wish to carry through an airport security checkpoint:

All liquids must be in individual containers not greater than 100ml capacity
All containers must be placed in one transparent re-sealable transparent bag, no larger than 20cm x 20cm 8" x 8" in size. The containers must fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be fastened closed
Only one bag per passenger is allowed. The bag must be clear and re-sealable, such as ‘ziplock’ bags or bags with pressable seals. Larger bags or bags that are sealable, such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed
Each passenger must remove their clear plastic bag from their hand baggage and place it in on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening
Liquids in containers of more than 100ml capacity can be packed in your checked in baggage

So Good News, as Medised comes in a 100ml bottle it looks like i'll be able to take it with me after all. That's one less thing to worry about - phew!
