It finally dawned on us this week that we are actually going to be moving to NZ! It's all seemed a bit of a dream since Sept 05 when we were selected from the pool - but the letter this week telling us that we have been 'approved in principal' has made it all seem suddenly very real. We thought it was about time we made oursleves known.

We are a family of six and hoping to settle on the South Island in Christchurch, Dunedin or Southland. I'm Kelvin, an English teacher, my wife is a nurse, my eldest daughter is hoping to study at University and our other three children are looking forward to school life. We are even thinking of bringing the dog and cat (I know, we must be mad).

Anyway, this forum seems to be a very friendly and helpful place and we are looking forward to getting to know a few people before we finally pack the bags and head south.

Hi & Welcome to the forum.
I hope it proves as useful to you as it has done to us over the past few weeks...
I think its great that you are taking your pets - two less things to feel bad about leaving behind :(

Hi
We are planning on taking our dog to NZ too. I think pets are such a big part of your family and with such a huge change it keeps things familiar for kids :nice1

Hi there, can anyone tell me the details of bringing dogs out to NZ?
Are they sedated, cost involved, vets clearance, quarantine etc.....?
Some of our extended family are in the early stages of applying to emigrate. They have a much loved dog who would come with them.
