My daughter will be 18 when we come over next year and looking for a place at University.

Does anyone have experience of applying for a university place?

Unlike in the UK, the process seems incredibly quick - apply October time for a Feb start? Is this correct? Are A levels readily recognised?

Any advice would be welcome.

I applied with A-levels and it was amazingly quick (having already applied within the UK)- I heard back within a week, the form was simple and no application fee. They do need the actual A-level certificates, and A-levels are readily recognised.

This was for a BA and I think they are stricter with some courses, such as Law, but I think it will still be easier that the UK.

Will she have PR? Any ideas what subject or which uni? I work part-time for the International Students office at Victoria, as well as studying,so I can probably help with more specific questions.

I would apply as early as possible. I was in contact with my teachers college from February 2005, and I didnt have to place an actual application until August, but the advisors already knew my circumstances so it made it easier...
