Saw another question about our immigration abbreviations, and thought we should have a thread with a collection of them. Here's a few off the top of my head. Perhaps others will add some more...
EOI - Expression of interest
ITA - Invitation to Apply
PR - Permanent Residence (Visa)
NZIS - New Zealand Immigration Service
NZQA - Qualifications Assessment
WTR - Work to Residence
CV - Curriculum Vitae (resume)
RRV - Returning Residents Visa (which allows permanent residents to leave New Zealand and return again usually for 2 years)
IRRV - Indefinite Returning Residents Visa, no expiration

Nice work.
Call me dumb but MAF (ministry of agriculture and fisheries) always had me stumped when I forst turned up.
There was another in relation to home buying/renting that foxed me - forget it at the mo but it will come to me...

Here's two common ones from the money threads:
IRD: Inland Revenue Department-The government agency that collects taxes
GST: Goods and Services Tax charged on almost all (very few exceptions) goods and services in NZ.

Okay, this is probably really obvious, but I'm not getting it. What does OH stand for? It seems to stand for spouse or significant other.

Oddly enough the Kapiti Observer newspaper referred to MAF as the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in an article this week, even though I know the MAF web site says Forestry.

Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone's applications are going well - 3 months in and still nothing dropping through the letter box, but the real ale's flowing well at the minute so we aren't that bothered :cheers !!
Got one for the group; what does BAS mean? Keep seeing it in relation to accounting jobs (which seem plentiful at the moment) but haven't seen it long hand yet.

Scotia - I could be wrong but I think sometimes the post messes up and shows the html code for & which is & (indicating an ampersand - & - should go there). It just means and.
