Hi
I have a wee question and was hoping that someone might be able to help :roll We are a family of three my hubby, 3 yr old and me :) My hubby is an Electrician and I am a Secondary Teacher. We have just completed our EOI online and we are just about to send off our qualifications to be assessed. Roughly how long will/should it take from submitting EOI to completing the process?? We are applying under the 'Skilled Migrant' category and my hubby is the main applicant. The EOI gave us 140 points. We are trying to work out a plan of how long we have to save money, sell the house etc.....
Any help or advice would be gr8 ;)
Thanks!

Hi Lisa,
Not sure if this is going to help you much, but each application is different. For example we submitted our EOI in May, and are still waiting for the ITA (There have been a few problems along the way).
There is a really useful post by Juniper if you search for it I'm sure you will find it, which gives a walkthrough of the process from submitting EOI to getting PR etc.
Have a look at peoples signitures at the end - most give details of when they submitted the EOI - got the ITA - submitted that and then got PR.
Sorry if this is no help at all - But welcome to the forum, and good luck!
:)

Just looked back at our records - we submitted our EOI on 14 January 2005 and were granted PR on 26 May 2005.
This was for Skilled Migrant and we used an agency (Protea Pacific), I'm not sure if that makes a difference.
Good luck,
David.

We submitted our EOI at the end of Feb and got PR at the end of May - no job offer, no agency - but to be honest reading about the timescales now I think things have slowed down a lot recently. For example our EOI was selected and we got our ITA a week later - these days it seems to be taking months!
If you have a job offer everything gets much quicker.

Hi Lisa
We had our EOI selected 2nd August and had decision successful last week. This was for 140 pts with no job offer. There does seem to be quite a backlog at the moment in London - very frustrating! It is then supposed to take 1-4 months from submission of ITA simply to be assigned a case officer so the process can drag on. Just keep saving!
Good luck

Hi Lisa
If you have a job offer the process is much faster as you get priority over EOIs without job offers.

Wanted to say welcome to the forum.
Every ones time scales seem to differ, but you can be prepared so when you do get the ITA you can do afast turn around, police certificates last for 6 months but the medicals are only 3 months so don't organise them till you know the ita is on its way to you. But you can get loads of paperwork together ready, prrof of living together, certified copies of passports if you are not wanting to send the originals (you can extend the time you have to activate your visa by doing this too!) full birth certificates, marriage certificates, prrof of work experience, etc. Get as much together as you can.
If you use the search facility on the forum there will be loads of old threads about the process which may answer queries you have, if you can't find the answer then ask away someone on here will probably have the answer!
Good luck - and your turn will come- it may seem like its never going to happen but it will! :)

Hi
Thanks so much for all of the replies, I am getting the general feeling that it all does vary but that job offers can speed up an application ;) It seems a bit daunting at times and I wonder how we will manage to complete the process - determination I think. Good luck to everyone else on this exciting (scary sometimes) journey!
