Hi all. We're finally making some progress. Got PSS packers in on 4th december, and then my husband's company have booked flights for us going on 1st january with singapore airlines, stopping over in singapore for 1 night. We arrive on 4th jan......starting to feel ever so slightly nervous! Has anyone flown with Singapore before?
Still without a plan accommodation wise, we have two weeks in a hotel in Takapuna on the north shore before we need to find somewhere. If anyone sees any great rentals in takapuna, devonport or any of the east coast bays in region of $500ish per month, give me a shout!

We’re in exactly the same situation as you, packers and flights booked and starting to get nervous. Singapore Airlines are great – I’ve flown return to NZ with them twice and would be flying with them again if I’d had the choice.

sounds reassuring, especially when you have a very long flight with a two year old! Whereabouts are you going to in NZ?

We've flown with Singapore Airlines twice. The first time with a nine month old. Then this time with a 2 year old and a 4 year old. They are great with the kids. Cam sat and watched Chicken Little over and over (mostly without sound as he didn't like the headphones :laugh ). We did nightflights so they slept two-thirds of the way to Singapore and most of the way to New Zealand. My only complaint would be that I didn't think the kids meals were up to much. I'd rather have got the kids adult meals and let them pick out what they wanted.

My advice is be prepared - very prepared - when the packers come if its not nailed down it gets packed - including alarm clocks that are still set and continue going off at the set time morning and night for an hour - (we are taking bets if the clock will still be ticking when we open the container - Kev says it will be cos it was a duracell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
We flew with singapore airline in Jan for our reccy trip - nothing but praise for them, they are fantastic can't do enough to help, one of our boys was sick with hour to go they were brilliant dealing with it. They are bringing drinks around all the time but I'm a real tea belly (ask Stevie D) and if you ask they put the kettle on and bring you a brew whenever you want!
We have also emailed them, this time (to make sure we had it in writing!) asking if it was possible for any extra baggage allowance since we were emigrating and they have given us 30kg each - lord knows how we will carry it but its there if we need it!
Will let you know how we cope with our youngest one who is almost 3, this time, we left him with grandma in Jan so haven't done the flight with a little one, just the two older ones who are 11 and 9.
Good luck hope the packing goes well, and if you are having anything crated - check they have requested the crate be made the week before!!!!!!!!! :exit

You do mean $500 a week not a month for rent ????
You wouldn't get anything for $500 a month .

We flew with singapore airlines the last time we visited NZ. And they were really good and I would recommend them to anybody. We will fly with them again when we finally get a date.
