Hi all

received mail from our immigrat. office ( C Pontifex) , points have been reduced from our eoi and we are below 100. Qualifications are not recognised, don't understand why City & Guilds cert. are not recognised.

I think we must go for NZQA assessment.

Do you think we go through assessment direct or should we pre-assess first?

We have until 21st nov to reply . Do you think they will keep our file in if we tell them we are having our cert. being assessed and waiting for NZQA report or will they remove it and then we have to apply again and then pay again?

Anybody in the same situation , please need advice.

we are so down :wah :wah :wah

This is what the operations manual says

Trade Qualifications

The City and Guilds Part One and Part Two Certificates named below, together with evidence of a completed apprenticeship registered with a recognised industry body, are assessed as occupying Level 3 of the Register and will therefore qualify for 50 points.

Note: Visa and immigration officers must ensure that the Part Two Certificate is a full qualification (usually three components). Individual components of the Part Two qualification may be separately certificated. Most full Part Two certificates require completion of three components.

Other Trade qualifications not listed below require assessment by the NZQA.

Do you have parts 1 and 2 and a completed apprenticeship? If so you shouldn't need to get them assessed and it might be worth asking why its not recognised before going down that route?

It seems you are going to have to get them assessed. There is no way they will be back with you by the 21 Nov. Can you email your case worker and tell them this is what you are planning to do and see if she will keep you on file until you get them back? What with Christmas coming up I would also be inclined to fast track them, even though it costs more.

I really feel for you. Something similar happened to a friend of mine and it's very unhappy and frustrating experience.

Let us know how you get on.
