Hi the advise we were given by our Dr was to ask at the reception desk at the Drs for the files of all 5 of us to be photo copied. She said that the originals would stay here in the uk but the copies were more than enough for the Medical requirements out in NZ.
Hope this helps but im sure more will post with more advise

Hi
We didn't think about our records until after we arrived, our Dr in NZ contacted our old GP in the uk and was told they wanted 50 Pounds per person ( total 250 pounds ) to copy and send records. As none of us had any real problems with our health we managed to resist their very tempting offer.
Definatley get copies before leaving if poss would be our advice
good luck
Brian and Jan :)

Yep - our NZ doctors have not been able to get copies from our Uk docs. My parents went to thier UK docs and got photocopies (free would you believe!) and brought them over with them.

A summary of our medical history was faxed from our UK docs at the request of our NZ docs at no charge. I was expecting to pay about 60 quid and if it had been the proper paper medical record, would have done so for me, but not OH. His records say - Born, probably still alive, have never seen him. :laugh
We've recently moved and the doc's receptionist in Welly handed me our records for when we register with a doctor up here, including OH's so absolutely no patient confidentiality, even though his records are almost blank!
My file also included some vital tests results for a little old lady which had been misfiled, so I took them back.
