Hi folks
Just wondering if anyone has any current updates on time taken to get PR via partnership. I know on the website it says between 2 and 4 months to get a case officer and then however long on top but I know looking through the forum that it can take less time. I applied end of Aug and received notification within days that they had received my application but since then nothing. I did notice however that NZIS had taken the £420 out immediately though! We have our flights booked to go beginning of the year (one way). I have an Australian Visa and if I don't hear before we set off, I'm planning to ask them to forward the application on to NZ, and book a flight onto Australia from NZ which I can cancel should my PR come through meantime. Any thoughts anyone?
Cheers

The only thing that I can suggest is that you contact NZIS direct and see what stage your application is at (although you've probably done this already).

Hope everything works out in time for you, at least you have the 'safety net' of an Aussie visa and an onwards ticket if things don't complete in time.

Good luck !!!!

Hi Scotia,
I came over on the partnership application. I submitted it in May and received a Returning Resident's Visa in August, so I guess it was about 3 months. However, I took all my stuff in in person to the NZIS (Christchurch) and was able to get a work permit that very day which was great.

And I agree with Diny - it is a good idea to call them and check where your application is at. I signed up for the online service but never received anything.

Good luck to you!

Thanks girls, I haven't contacted them up to now as it says not to! However, I will tomorrow. Everyday I seem to be waiting to hear something and its getting on my nerves! i also signed up for the online service but so far haven't heard anything. i seem to recall someone saying that there was a bit of a backlog on the partnership applications-obviously everyone is of the same mind as us and wanting to live in NZ!

I am also going for PR via the partnership route. I emailed a few weeks ago complaining that I hadn't heard anything. I was told that the London office has a backlog at the moment and that in order to streamline the process they are not writing to people to say that a case officer has been allocated so the first you will hear is if they need more info or once they have decided your application.

Good to hear from you GeordieLass - isn't it a pain this waiting? Do you know if they are going to email you or contact you by phone once they've decided your application?

I got a letter saying I was approved in principle yesterday. I think if they want more info they would email as it's quicker. Best of luck!
