We may need to furnish an entire house, very quickly, in Christchurch. Is Farmers a good option? I am not sure what other department store or one stop shopping resources exist out there.
We don't have lots of time to go and comparison shop around from store to store for each item, but don't want to buy junk or pay outrageous sums when we could be saving bundles elsewhere. Any feedback on buying from Farmers or other suggestions. I think it could help others on the forum as well, given how dear things are to buy here.
Thanks,
W

there is a massive furniture warehouse on Blenheim Rd, before the new warehouse, don't know the name but it implies that they have a lot in stock ready to buy (as opposed to ordering it for 6 weeks time). also on moorhouse ave they have the '2nds shop for smith city, might be worth going in there, as again its all in stock.

Are you referring to Big Save Veronica? Good place to start for sofas that don't cost the earth - it's also on Blenheim Road.
There's also the Harvey Norman centre which has Freedom Furniture along with another huge furniture shop plus a white goods/vacuum/TV retailer and a couple of smart decor shops.
I find Farmers a bit on the expensive side - you'll be much better deals at the larger warehouse size stores.
For more Euro accessories, linen, kitchenware and lovely furniture check out Victoria Street (near Casino) - theres a few lovely places there.

I found big save to be quite expensive too, Moorf.... Harvey Norman and freedom furniture are a good bet, im my experience.

If you can get to Farmers on a sale weekend, then there are real bargains to be had. I got two sofas for $900, and they are really good quality.
They also delivered them the next day direct from the warehouse in Auckland down to the Waikato for me really cheaply. (I can't remember the exact cost, but it was much cheaper than me hiring a trailer and driving down!)

Watching a place in the sun tonight, and we commented on some of the carpets on view.
What is it like trying to source carpet and what sort of cost are they??

What is a sale weekend? I know Farmers is having their Cherry picker days now- is that what you mean or are there special sale days that they promote?
Thanks,
