Hi everybody,
I have taken a look to the customs web page and I've seen that one has to pay taxes if you buy some goods during hollidays overseas. I mean, suposse one of us, an immigrant, travel to our origin country to pass hollidays with our families for christmast or whatever... and we buy an electronic device, books, clothes, sport clothes or whatever. Is real that one has to pay taxes (GST, or whatever) to customs when coming back to NZ? I never payed for goods that I bought in Canada or US i.e when I came back to my country, it was in my baggage and that was all, nobody asked anything about that.
Is it real that you even have to declare a camera before leaving for hollidays because otherway customs will charge taxes for it as soon as you come back to NZ?
Ufff,,, it seems very dictatorial. Is it that hard or is as flexible as in another countries?
Thanks everybody!! :cheers :exit
