Six days untill we fly out on the 20th Nov!!! - jeeze, the alternating between gleeful excitment and anticipation, - to tears about the kids missing their freinds and grandparents is a strong combination. I have been experiencing the most bizarre dreams ( i won't bore you with them) and what my brother calls 'fearful fantasies' (ie) I dont want the kids to play rugby on Sunday (we fly on mon.) because i am convinced one of them will break an arm or leg! -

I am still concerned that we might not cut it financially as only one of us can work for the first 6 months - one needs to be at home with the children because i really feel they will need this stability to settle well - and we don't know a soul who might pick up or drop from school etc. - i had quite a network of "school" people in the uk who I could call on and they me - it worked well, but i am sure that type of arrangement will evolve again

If the money should run out i suppose we could sell one of the kids - joking o course - or my OH will endeavor to get a night job - we have had to do that before - what fun - not.

Finances aside, i can't wait to meet new people and make new friends - though i do tend to attract, shall we say, 'needy' people who turn out to be weird!!, i am the one on the bus who the guy talking to himself sits next to - every time... we shall see...

I just want to say good luck to those like us flying this weekend or next week i know there are a few, keep us posted to how it goes and first impressions, i am really addicted to this forum and talk to my OH about peolpe on here like i know you personally - so i will need my fix of info quickly - god bless the inventor of the laptop.

Kind regards to all

Sue, Danny, Creagan, maximilian, and Joseph. aka thepiesleys.

Best of luck!

Maybe the kids missing one rugby game might not be a bad idea!?

Best of Luck with the journey and settling in. I'm sure you'll soon have a network of friends built up in NZ to help you with the kids.

Good luck !!! I remember these last few days so well. Saying you have 'mixed emotions' doesn't even come close to describing things does it?

I know what you mean about not wanting the kids to play rugby the day before you leave, we fly back to UK for a holiday on the 27th and the week leading up to our departure the boys are at school camp - taking part in all kinds of heart stopping (for me) activities ..... I'm having thoughts along the same lines as you.

Hope all goes well (as I'm sure it will). Where abouts are you heading towards?

Take care.

Good luck to the Piesleys! We fly out on the same day. We're flying out of Heathrow at 1815. If you're on the same flight, maybe we could meet in the departure lounge! We could lend each other a bit of the old moral support.

Let us know.

I know what you mean about mixed emotions. My wife is feeling very down today. It's a big step, and I think it's just hit her.

Good Luck...

I am a nutter on the bus girl as well, but so far seem to have avoided them...... apart from the occasional supermarket encounter!

Good luck thepiesleys!! I think I'm with you on missing the rugby - maybe you could just take them along to say goodbye to their friends? Enjoy the next few mad days.

Good luck Piesleys! I'm already on the emotional rollercoaster and we're nowhere near at your stage. It's only natural the feelings you're going through and everytime I read messages like yours I think 'that's going to be us in a few months time'. I'm scared but excited - some days more scared, others more excited but I know people on this forum will be there to support you. Keep us all updated on life over there!
