Sorry to the regulars here, I'm a bit of a lurker, I don't feel I have had as much experience as some others.
HOWEVER our Approved in Principle Residence Visas arrived today, now just to get the bit of paper stuck in the passports. We are both excited (haven't told son about the visa yet, i suspect he wouldn'y understand the significance anyway), he does know we are moving, so had to say something!

Big congrats to you! :raebanana
I guess you have some time for things to sink in, but I remember when immigration waved me through at the airport (work permit/visa), I couldn't help but give a big smile. Right about then is when things started feeling a little more real for me.
I hope I'm not far behind you with PR. (slightly jealous, but I'll get over it ... :uhoh ... maybe ... :laugh )

WELL DONE Peter.....don't lurk, come and join us all. Questions are as valuable as the answers people give to them as we all learn in the process!
What are your plans in NZ in the future?
And how old is your son?
Big glass of wine to celebrate this evening?

We had a bottle of cheap sparkling that we decided to open. Our son, Luke is 7 going on 8, and he now understands that we have been given a form that gives us permission to live and work in NZ.
We have plenty of time to sort things things out and the advice and assitance from this forum has been great. I don't have a great deal of spare time so only get to view the posts about once a week.
I am going to be working in Wellington and Fetherston (or certainly "over the hill") sounds great. We don't want to live in the city and have some fairly firm ideas on our living requirements. The Kapiti coast is out second favourite as present. No firm decision will be made until we are in country.

Yes, many congratulations. :raebanana :raebanana
And as Hannah suggests by all means post more, if you wish. Hearing about your experiences, questions, thoughts, observations or feelings is terrific.
All the best to your family! :nice1

I am a new user of this forum so a bit of a greenhorn.
Congratulations on getting your visa - has any one out there been granted a family sponsored visa if so how long did it take? We have two new grandchildren that we are dying to see and be with.
