well, after being in christchurch for nearly a month (it didnt feel that long at all!!) we're up in welly now and have been here since monday.had planned to move here all along but getting into tertiary education up here sealed the deal! im living in miramar which i quite like..its about 20-25 minutes from the city center but ive hardly needed to go into town cause miramar and surrounding suburbs have what i need really.
currently job hunting which is a bit of a pain but it has to be done.my partner is making great progress job-wise..i think the irish accent is helping!

havent been able to see a lot of wellington yet because of all the small things we had to sort out but hopefully the weather will clear up over the weekend and we can go adventuring a wee bit. bits that i have seen ive really liked and i get a good vibe off the place, and im all about gut feelings when it comes to most things!

im not that keen on the overpriced buses here though!! i cant quite see how they can charge so much but they do! from where we live to town is 3.50 so it can end up being 7 or more dollars a day!! i could get a lot further with that much in petrol (i love my wee economic car) so im glad that ive brought my car with me up here.

i cant really think of much else of importance to say right now really (i think its because im awfully tired)..but ill keep you up to date on how we're going!

xx :)

Oh dear! I can’t help but see that as dirt cheap – but I understand that depends on what you are used to! We’re looking forward to commuting being a big big saving for us.

If you are using the bus a lot you can get a monthly pass for $95 which will save you quite a lot. If you don’t use it enough for that you can get a smart card that does 10 trips for which you get a bit of a discount ($3.50 becomes $2.80 I think)

It sounds like you are really enjoying Wellington though – we can’t wait to get there now. Its so nice hearing about people arriving and settling in.

Glad you are settled in! Will look forward to hearing your thoughts on having lived in both Christchurch and Welly once you have time to get to know the new place. Don't hold your breath for a break in the weather this weekend though... :no well maybe Sunday afternoon it will be alright. :)

Hi welcome to Wellington
hope the weather improves so you can explore a bit
Busses may not be cheap but unless you have a park in town it costs more to take the car, though it free at weekends :raebanana
Hope you enjoy it here
